Karen is a very successful busuness woman in an industry traditionally seen as male-dominated. She was previously Custome Service Director and deputy MD, for First Capital Connect, where she combined the customer service elements of the two previous businesses, and delivered signigicant improvements in both customer and service quality. She was also the Chairperson of FirstInfo custmer contact centre subsidiary.

Prior to this Karen was a Department Head of Customer Service at First Great Western where she developed and implemented a major customer service investmemnt programme, which had lead to signigicant rise in customer satisfaction.
Before joining the rail industry, Karen worked for Armark as a Regional Managing Director, where she led a number of successful bids and bisiness integration projects. She also worked in a variety of senior positions within the catering and hospitality sectors for Granada and Allied Lyons.
