Janan Thomson Export Connections Wins Female Entrepreneur Award

Janan Thomson from Unit Business Export Connections Ltd won the Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Leeds at the 11th Annual Yorkshire Enterprise and Diversity Awards. The Award Ceremony took place on 25th March at the Yorkshire Cricket Ground. In addition to this award, Janan also came second in the 'International Business of the Year' category for Leeds.
Janan set up her business Export Connections Ltd in June 2009. Janan uses specialist research techniques and in-country researchers to help businesses expand internationally. The services they offer include identifying the best international markets to enter, locating suitable potential agents and distributors in export markets, finding end users, providing in-country data and general advice on international markets.
Following a successful pitch to a panel of Unit Fellows, Janan secured a place at The Unit in August 2009. She is now a virtual member and continues to receive training, support and advice through the Unit's Excellence in Enterprise and mentoring programmes.
