The Leeds Enterprise Network Goes From Strength to Strength
Liz Cable from highly successful e-learning and social media business Reach Further Ltd was a guest speaker at the Leeds Enterprise Network Event sponsored by Business Link on the evening of Thursday 13th May 2010. The Leeds Enterprise Network, an exciting and innovative collaboration between The Unit at Leeds City College, QU2, Business Start-Up at Leeds Met and Spark at the University of Leeds provides invaluable networking opportunities for budding entrepreneurs from across the city and serves as a showcase for their innovative products and services.
Liz, a social media trainer & strategist, founded Reach Further in October 2006 and won a place in The Unit shortly after. Liz works with businesses, educational and membership organisations to help them adopt and embed social and collaborative technologies to deliver learning and commercial advantage. At the event Liz shared her expertise with over 60 delegates giving them tips on how to grow their business using social media and a number of practical activities to engage in.
Also speaking at the event was Mark Goldstone, Head of Corporate Relations at Leeds Chamber of Commerce who gave invaluable tips and suggestions on how to get the most out of networking and networking protocol.
After the speakers, start-up businesses were given an opportunity to get up and do a mini pitch to the audience. Amongst the businesses that made a pitch were Brella Telecom (a training company in the mobile telecommunications sector) and Ambustar, a company specialising in first aid services.
Companies exhibiting at the event included Unit businesses Indigo Car and Van Hire Ltd and Dynofusion Design Ltd, along with University of Leeds business Surefire Contemporary Circus Theatre and Plus Minus Design who are currently based at QU2 and were finalists at this year’s NACUE Awards.
The next Network event will be held on 18th November at the University of Leeds. Business Desk Editor & Director, David Parkin, will be the special guest speaker.
