This is a Forward Ladies event.

During this speaker led breakfast Christina Talens will discuss how Bettys and Taylors of Harrogate work with their suppliers as well as the Peruvian Rainforest Project and the Trees for Life campaign.

After ten years working on human rights and labour issues in the NGO sector, Cristina Talens joined Bettys & Taylors of Harrogate as their Ethical Trading Manager. Her job takes her to tea and coffee growing countries round the world to ensure the good prices the family business pays are passed to everyone throughout the supply chain.

Cristina will talk about her role and travels, as well as Bettys & Taylors long term passion for trees. With the support of customers and staff the family business has already placed 3 million trees around the world, and now, thanks to their ‘Yorkshire Rainforest Project’ have pledged to save an area of rainforest the size of Yorkshire. Earlier this year Cristina travelled to Peru’s Amazon rainforest to visit the Ashaninka tribe, one of the communities the Yorkshire Rainforest Project will be supporting. Cristina will share how helping a rainforest community over 6,000 miles away, will help with the fight against climate change.

The event will be held in the Imperial Room, on the first floor of Bettys Café Tea Rooms, which has been recently refurbished after being closed to the public for nearly 40 years. Featuring detailed plaster panelling and coving, parquet floor and many original features, the Imperial Room is suitable for parties, receptions and informal business meetings.

NB: This event will take place on the first floor and there is no lift available. For each attendee, £2.50 will be donated to the Yorkshire RainForest Project.
