Did you know that during the 1940s, Leeds was the only place in the north of England making neon signs? The city streets must have been aglow with light. Richard William Wheater continues this tradition into the present day from his workshops in Wakefield.
Trained at Edinburgh School of Art, Alfred University in New York and in Sunderland, Richard is one of the artists behind the ambitious project ‘Twelve Months of Neon Love.’

In the late 1960’s Nik Powell set up Virgin Records with Richard Branson. In 1982 he formed Palace Productions with Stephen Wolley and was executive producer on films such as Neil Jordan’s award winning Company of Wolves; Oscar nominated & Cannes award winning Mona Lisa; and Oscar Winning The Crying Game.
